Pelosi: Where Are the Jobs, Mr. President?

August 1, 2003

Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' announcement that 470,000 people abandoned their job searches in July and that 3.2 million private sector jobs have been lost since President Bush took office:

“The fact is that President Bush’s misguided economic policies have failed to create jobs. Since President Bush took office, the country has lost 3.2 million jobs, the worst record since President Hoover. And today we learned that in July nearly half a million people gave up looking for a job.

“Job losses are taking a real toll on the financial security of American families. While Democrats are fighting for opportunity, jobs, and economic security for working families, Republicans continue to focus on helping those who need help the least.

“According to today’s survey, while the national unemployment rate dropped slightly, it still stands at a near record high. In addition, the unemployment rate for African Americans was still over 11 percent in July, and the unemployment rate for Hispanics was 8.2 percent in July.

“It is time for President Bush and the Republicans to get to work for all Americans, not just the elite few.”

NObama talks a good game but fails do deliever. he says he wants to lower the deficit and cut gov't spending - but - he has no intention of doing so and when challanged he points the finger at the Bush administration. Which is odd - because if the Bush admin was so terrible - why is NObama trying to replicate it? Anyway back on point - until we get an admin who is serious about getting things back under control - we're screwed. And yes, NObama this means you're going to have to do more then just tax the "rich".

We hear so few real stories about the true happenings in the financial world. China is not behind the money being loaned, China is the money being loaned. The more time goes on, the stronger the grip China has on America. China is the only super power left in the financial arena. And when no one else can play, China wins.

The Chinese understand how to prey on the greed on westerners, it is that simple. The more the west has, the more the west wants. Like a fat puppy always wants more food, he will eat until it kills him. Put that in terms of cultures, and the Chinese are more than willing to help the west gorge itself to death.

Greedy - you mean like how the person that is to lazy to get a job steals the money and labor of the working class? Or how people like you whine bitch and complain for more gov't provided services but do not have the means to pay for them. that kind of greed? or the greed as in the person who goes out, works, earns money, and buys some really good steak

It seems to me that the Chinese are having their own economic difficulties since their exports are significantly curtailed due to the world wide economic downturn. Their "capitalistic" exporting operations are no longer able to sustain the "growth" of their state subsidized industries. So only time will tell how China will play out the hand they are being dealt. I do, however, doubt that it will result in any country "gorging" themselves to death.

Do tell us then, where is all this money coming from? Donald Trump? lol. I do understand many people have reported a curtailed export system in China, but you sure could not prove it anywhere they sell anything. The more China works towards a capitalist system, the bigger they will get. And they have no plans to stop now. It is very interesting that within their communist system, they are becoming capitalists. You would think it not possible, but that is the Chinese for you. Do the impossible, cheaper. but right you are,,time will tell.

we're just waiting for you to define greed. I mean is greed stealing someone else's labor or putting food on one's table?

We? you and your other inside the head friends?

Greed is not theft, it is greed. Hoarding at the determent of others or the lack of caring for others, regardless of the cost. Greed is the idea that what you have makes you more important as a person or entity than others. To ask the question, "what is greed", is pathetic.
