Recently I had a conversation with someone who is highly religious. To the question "what religion did I follow?" I said I was an Atheist, to which they responded "Don't you understand that without God your life has no meaning or purpose?"

I simply replied, "Well I think that putting the weight of your problems on a omnipresent babysitter so that you don't have to carry the weight of your own decisions and problems was cowardly and foolish."

Now I don't really believe that those who are religious are fools or cowards for the most part. My point is that My statement was no less offensive than someone telling me that my life has no meaning and not worth living unless I believed in God.

I just wanted to put that thought out there.

In my opinion, the purpose and meaning of one's life is what you make it. Regardless if you believe in a god, several gods or no god at all.
