Seriously, don't read any further if you don't want to know...

Cap goes to trial, and afterwards, as he's being escorted from the building, a sniper puts a round in his head. Who would do that and why? Don't know, big mystery, probably one that Frank Castle will be looking into in his brand new Captain America duds.

This is fact, don't ask how I know, you'll see for yourself soon enough.

Don't worry though, eventually Bucky will probably realize the legacy really belongs to him and he'll take it back.

Fallen Son makes more sense now, why they waited AFTER Civil War to kill Cap is another story. Well, killing Cap is another story too. WTF @ that!

Gay.

And the whole dark Cap substitute thing has already been done.

It will all turn out to have been planned, Steve is really alive and working for S.H.I.E.L.D., yadda yadda. And they're sure to play up the Ronin angle, too, like they did with DD.

Lame.

Steve is Captain America. Period. He's not a legacy character, he's simply the only one, because he's not defined by his powers (which are commonplace in the superhero community), but his character and experience. Anyone taking over for him is going to fall short. Apparently Marvel skipped out on reading the whole Kyle Rayner thing.

Can they even try to be original? Or stick to their own continuity? Just a teensy little bit?

From the NY Times:

Comic book deaths, however, are rarely final. Marvel's archrival, DC Comics, provoked a media frenzy when it killed off Superman in 1993, only to reanimate its prize creation a year later.

Joe Quesada, 43, Marvel Entertainment's editor in chief, said he wouldn't rule out the shield-throwing champion's eventual return. But for now, the Captain's fans are in mourning.
