Intro: This is a story that I have been building on for a long time. It basically takes some of the events of my early childhood and applies them to a young boy by the name of Riscon. At first I was writing this and it was based in a modern society in a small town. I realized that this setting didn't allow for the expansion of the character that I wanted so I am rewriting this in a fantasy setting to help disassociate myself from the character and let him grow on his own and make decisions for himself. One warning a lot of what I am writing is still in a rough form but I would still appreciate some feedback, opinions, and criticism. Enjoy.
Prologue: Riscon is the child of a loveless affair between his mother Jessika and his father Thilran. Jessika is from a family who was never well off but was also never starving. Thilran is from a rich family. When Thilran found out that Jessika was pregnant and that the child was his he was forced by his father to marry Jessika. After a few years of trying to make things work with Jessika he asked his father if he could leave Jessika because as long as he was married to her he was sure to never be happy. His father refused, so Thilran left to join the northern frontier forces and was never around to raise his son. Jessika was not upset with Thilran for leaving to protect the north because some of the money that he earned was sent to her to care for herself and her child. When Riscon was five he asked his mother who his father was and why he was never home because some of his friends had fathers and he wanted one too. Jessika was upset by this and went to consult Thilran's father, Riscon's grandfather on the subject. Thilris, Thilran's father told her to tell him the truth but to also tell Riscon that since his father was away that Thilris would teach him to be a man when the time came.

| I'm very interested in hearing the rest of this story. The Prologue sounds great, and I love the name Riscon for some reason.
