Privacy Policy

We strive to develop innovative services to better serve our members. We recognize that privacy is an important issue and this site does not integrate with any 3rd party login services such as Facebook, Twitter etc. for this very reason. We design and operate our services independantly with the protection of your privacy in mind. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of personal information we gather when you use our services, as well as some of the steps we take to safeguard it.


Data collection
We collect limited non-personally identifying information your browser makes available whenever you visit a website. This log information includes your Internet Protocol address, browser type, browser language, the date and time of your page access and one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser. We use this information to operate, develop and improve our services. 

Some of our services require you to register for an account. We ask you for some personal information in order to create an account (typically your date of birth and email address) and we will use that information to provide the service. For certain services, such as a Paid Membership, we may request credit card or other payment information which we DO NOT store on our servers. 

When we require personally identifying information, we will inform you about the types of information we collect and how we use it. We hope this will help you make an informed decision about sharing your personal information with us.

Information sharing

Generally speaking, we do not intentionally disclose your information to third parties without your consent. However we reserve the right to do so because it is necessary to the operation and continued growth of our business or to protect the rights of others. These instances are discussed below:

  • Disclosure to Successors.
    We may disclose your Personal Information to any successor-in-interest of ours, such as a company that acquires us. In the event The Pork Community Inc. goes through a business transition, such as a merger, acquisition by another company, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your personally identifiable information will likely be among the assets transferred. You will be notified via email or by a notice on our Web Site of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information. You will have the right to remove your personal information before transfer.

  • Disclosure to Unaffiliated Third Parties.
    We may disclose your Personal Information to prevent an emergency, to protect or enforce our rights, to protect or enforce the rights of a third party, or as required or permitted by law (including, without limitation, to comply with a subpoena or court order).

  • Disclosure to Third-Party Service Providers.We may contract with various third parties who help us provide and maintain the Web Site or The Pork Services. For example, we use a third-party to process payments made to us, and may subcontract out production, fulfillment, or other operations. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to prevent such third parties from disclosing your Personal Information, except for the purpose of providing the services in question. We cannot guarantee that such third parties will not disclose your Personal Information.

  • Disclosure of Non-Personal Information.
    We will disclose Non-Personal Information, in aggregate form, to potential strategic partners, advertisers, investors, customers, and others. You may not "opt out" of the sharing of this information. However, it cannot be easily used to identify you personally.


Information security
The security of your personal information is important to us. When you enter sensitive information such as a credit card number on our order forms, we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL).

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the Personal Information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access to or unauthorized alteration, disclosure or destruction of data.

We restrict access to your personally identifying information to employees who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services.

We may store and process personal information collected on our site in the United States or any other country in which The Pork Community Inc. or its agents maintain facilities. By using our services, you consent to the transfer of your information among these facilities, including those located outside your country.


Web Site Content
The content that you store, post, or transmit on or through the Web Site, such as message board postings and "Profile" pages, may be accessed by other users, including people that you do not know. We are not responsible for the actions of others. Therefore, you should use care in communicating with other users and NEVER disclose your Personal Information to other users. You should not assume that your content will be kept private.


What About Children's Privacy?
Our Services are intended for users ages 18 and older. Accordingly, we will not knowingly collect or use any Personal Information from children that we know to be under the age of 18. In addition, we will delete any information in our database that we know originates from a child under the age of 18. 


General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
While our company is based in the United States we recognize the need for control of your personal information. As such our GDPR policy applies to all users regardless of where you reside.

In summary, the GDPR gives European Union consumers the rights of access, rectification, automated decision making and profiling, as well as the rights to erasure, restrict processing, data portability and object.

The only personal data that can directly or indirectly identify you in our systems are your Email Address, IP Addresses, and any personal identifying information you have provided in posts or in your profiles. If you delete your account all this information is deleted within 30 days but you may delete profiles and Nicknames (deleting a Nickname will delete any forum posts) at any time and we suggest you do this before deleting your account. Chat Room archive messages are deleted within 30 days regardless.


Updating and Deleting your information
We provide mechanisms for updating, correcting, and deleting your personally identifying information for many of our services.


Your Practices and Activities
You can take certain steps to help protect your Personal Information including (not not limited to):

Do not use your real name when creating a Username and/or Nickname. This name will be available to the general public when you post messages on forums, chat rooms or send a pager message.

Do not post your personal information anywhere on our services and never (even in private) tell anyone online anything private about yourself including your phone number, address or even what city you live in.

Do not post a screen shot of any page that contains personal information about you (such as a page that shows your Email Address).

We store the information you post in the Services, but we do not actively collect Personal Information from the content of these communications. When you communicate through a Service, even privately, we process and store those communications on our servers. We have the ability to monitor, and you consent to the monitoring of, the communications that you send and receive. Many types of communications are also publically available. We have no control over what third parties do with the content of communications. You agree that we have no responsibility, liability, or obligation to you regarding third parties’ use. Communications are exempt from the application of this Privacy Policy.


Your Right to Access, Correct, Delete, or Restrict Processing
You have the right to request access to and correct, erase or restrict processing of your Persional Information. You also have the right to object to your Personal Information being processed based on our legitimate business interests and the right to object to us sending you direct marketing and profiling you for the purpose of directing marketing (we don't, never have, and never will perform any type of direct marketing though) so long as such contact does not include critical information regarding your active account. You have the right to withdraw your consent regarding our use or storage of certain Personal Information, for example, if you do not want to receive email from us, you can “opt out” of receiving it by following the steps described in each such email.


California Residents
California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits California residents to request information from us concerning any disclosures of Personal Information we may have made in the prior calendar year to third parties for direct marketing purposes. If you are a California resident and you wish to request information about our compliance with this law or our privacy practices, you may contact us. Please note we do not (never have and never will) do any direct marketing.
