is the Silver Surfer really a bad guy or is it that he has no choice but to work for Galactus?
and can anyone defeat Galactus ?
there is heated debate in my house about the rumor that Phoenix ran from Galactus, and if this is the case... could the Dark Phoenix defeat him ?
help me out here comic people...

| Ok, here's the deal with comics: on any given sunday, freakin' Spiderman could take Galactus. It just depends on what they want to do with the story.
But, within typically accepted canon:
Galactus would very likely defeat Dark Phoenix. He feeds on energy, and he is a "cosmic being", naturally, rather than Dark Phoenix who is really a conduit for an energy type being. I'd put my money on Galactus in any event.
As for the Silver Surfer, he works for Galactus in exchange for Galactus' promise that Galactus would not eat the Silver Surfer's home world. He doesn't HAVE to work for him, but in not doing so, he puts up his homeworld as an entreé for the Devourer of Worlds.
