Humanity is going to immediately cease to be. A man has been given a choice to either extend its existence for two more weeks or to let it end in precisely one minute. Which do you believe the man should choose?

On a side note, should the maximum security level inmates in all prisons and asylums be released to enjoy whatever amount of time they have left? Or should they continue to remain in their isolation?

While this was very tough for me to decide... after thinking about it for a while I'd have to say to let it end in that one minute. Two weeks could seem like a lot of time... yes. But? Why would you want to spend two weeks of your life knowing the world is going to end at a certain date and time? That kind of responsibility and worry would end up killing you in the end, wouldn't it?

I don't think many human beings would be able to deal with that kind of a responsibility. Human beings have a hard time dealing with the idea of being responsible for their own children, let alone the entire population of Earth and everything in it. Could a person honestly live with themselves for two weeks knowing that everything is in vain? That no matter what he or she does... it's going to end anyway?

If everything could end in one minute... you wouldn't have time to dwell over what you've regretted in your life. You wouldn't have to worry about all the things you should've done, couldn't do, or should not of done. Your life is your life and you only live it once. When it's all over for us, we don't know it's coming. You could say, "Well, people who are sick know they're going to die."

Perhaps they do. However, they do not know the exact date of their own death nor does anyone else. It's because of this that we're able to hope and to go on. Isn't a proverbial point to humanity waiting on the 'what if' for one more minute of your life? To see your life and the ones you love through another day? Never knowing when it's all going to end gives you hope that it'll last another day.

How could you comprehend knowing everything will end? How could you dwell on it? Personally... I don't think I could handle the responsibility of knowing that life as we know it would end it two weeks.

Also, the inmates can stay in their cells. Afterall, we're going with the one minute theory.

What an Interesting two weeks that would be.

Yeah release the inmates....sh**...I wish I had four weeks after to do a thesis!!!

Inhibition would go the way of the Dodo (at one point there was only one with two weeks left....I wonder what she did.)

Betcha with just Two weeks left you all wouldn't be tired and want to sleep!!!

*still distracted*
Umm... sorry what was the question?

hm... I am one to believe we forge our own paths in life by the choices we make. Anything potentially isn't set in stone...
so fate can be changed ...with enough effort, determination,
and the right mind frame. But anyways, I'd say 2 weeks.

Although realistically, if we are screwed...
either one wouldn't matter. Would it? *ws*
Still I'd make'em wait two weeks.

Umm... but I'd leave the criminals in prison.
be worse if it turned out to be one huge prank.

...From the get-go, I think it'd be hard to take that question at all seriously with it being posed only as such.
